Providing emissions clarity in the renewables sector
Providing focus for emissions reduction through communication, measurement and clear strategy.
Arenko is a market leading technology provider enabling the clean energy transition through innovative software that optimises grid-scale batteries.
As an efficiency provider to the renewable energy sector, Arenko is intrinsically supporting climate change mitigation and they got in touch with Rawstone Consulting to help quantify and communicate their GHG emission impacts. Following advice from Rawstone on best practice in emissions measurement (the GHG Protocol), they engaged Rawstone to measure their scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, and to provide guidance on how avoided emissions can be communicated. Key highlights from the project are as follows:
Full measurement of scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions, giving clarify on emission sources and hot spots.
Integration of supplier-specific emissions into scope 3 measurement, and upskilling of internal resources on the methodology for future internal application.
Recommendations for suitably aspirational but also deliverable GHG emission reduction targets.
Clear guidance on avoided emissions in the context of GHG emission reporting and target best practice, including communications techniques to ensure emissions are conveyed in a transparent and not-misleading manner.
Arenko’s mission is to enable a zero-carbon grid. As part of this journey, we needed to better understand and measure our own carbon footprint. Rawstone provided the expertise and in-depth knowledge we needed to get us started. Caroline’s tailored and flexible approach has given our team a greater understanding of how we manage our emissions and where to focus our efforts in future
